What To Pack When You Go On Tour
I dread this bit more than anything. Packing my life into two suitcases and living out of them for months on end kills me.
You would think that after years and years of touring with musicals that I would have mastered the art of packing but unfortunately that is not the case. It is the bane of my existence because I cannot decide on anything. It is a lovely trait of me being a libra (seeing both sides of everything) meaning, I find it near impossible to choose what gets to come along and what gets left behind. I think the trickiest part is that often I’m packing for different climates and also different events. I might need chorus heels and music folders for auditions, plus a few opening night outfits as well as a ball to roll out my shoulders and a blender to make my daily smoothies or coffees. While I’m joking about it right now, it is something that gets me down sometimes because in the nomadic lifestyle it’s very rare that I get to have all my things with me at once. I often miss my cookbooks or other things that are too heavy to carry around.
Now, I am totally aware that this is a first world problem but a problem nonetheless and I’m positive loads of performers go through this same thing, often.
The following items are almost always with me on tour :
Portable speaker- UEBOOM
Blender- Nutri Ninja
Yoga mat- Jade Yoga
Essential Oils (DoTerra) , Perfect Potion Oil Diffuser, angel cards (these are my favourite) and Palo Santo sticks.
Resuable containers : Water bottle, Keep Cup and Travel thermos
Containers for food, calico bags for shopping/ produce and a nutmilk bag from – EverEco and Seed and Sprout Co
Sharp Knife- mine is a Wusthof
Salt and Pepper- this might be the most annoying thing to keep buying in every spot so I just bring it along with me now.
Coffee maker : Aeropress or my Bialetti stovetop eropress coffee (with hot soy milk blended to make it frothy)
